Product teams sketching flows and wireframes before formal design

Our take

Whimsical focuses narrowly on flowcharts, wireframes, mind maps, and sticky notes, and that narrowness is the point — it’s fast, opinionated about good defaults, and doesn’t try to be a full design or whiteboarding suite. We think it’s the best tool specifically for product teams sketching out user flows and low-fidelity wireframes before jumping into Figma. It lacks the collaborative workshop features of Miro and the advanced prototyping of Figma, so it’s best used as a fast thinking tool rather than a final design surface.

Key features

  • Flowcharts with smart connectors
  • Low-fidelity wireframing kit
  • Mind maps and sticky notes
  • Docs with embedded diagrams
  • Real-time collaboration

What we like

  • Fast and opinionated, minimal setup
  • Clean, readable default diagram styling
  • Good for early product and UX thinking
  • Simple pricing structure

What could be better

  • Not a full design or prototyping tool
  • Fewer workshop features than Miro
  • Limited free tier for regular team use
