Designers and marketers publishing fast marketing sites without developers

Our take

Framer collapses design and website publishing into one tool: you design visually, and what you build is the actual live site, not a mockup that needs to be rebuilt in code. We think this is genuinely disruptive for marketing sites, landing pages, and portfolios where speed matters more than deep custom engineering. It’s less suited to complex web applications with heavy backend logic, where a real development stack is still necessary. Compared to Webflow, Framer leans more design-tool-first with a gentler learning curve, at the cost of some advanced CMS flexibility.

Key features

  • Visual design that publishes as a live website
  • Built-in CMS for blogs and content
  • Responsive breakpoints and animations
  • SEO tools and analytics built in
  • AI site generation from prompts

What we like

  • No design-to-code handoff needed
  • Fast, modern sites out of the box
  • Easier learning curve than Webflow
  • Built-in hosting, CMS, and SEO tools

What could be better

  • Less flexible than full code for complex apps
  • CMS less mature than dedicated headless CMS tools
  • Custom logic still requires code overrides
