Evernote
The veteran note app rebuilding itself around search and document scanning
At a glance
Users needing powerful document and PDF search across large archives
Our take
Evernote basically invented mainstream note-taking, then spent years bloated, slow, and losing users to faster competitors. Under new ownership it’s leaner and more focused, with solid web clipping and document scanning that still beat most rivals. We think it’s worth a look if you need serious PDF and document search across thousands of notes, which remains a genuine strength. For everyday quick capture, though, lighter tools like Bear or Apple Notes feel faster and less encumbered by Evernote’s legacy baggage and tighter free-tier limits.
