Our take
Bitwarden’s free tier is genuinely comprehensive — unlimited passwords, unlimited devices, and even basic two-factor authenticator support, features other tools reserve for paid plans. We think it’s the obvious recommendation for budget-conscious users and anyone who values open-source auditability over flashy design. The paid Premium tier is inexpensive by category standards and adds emergency access and advanced 2FA options. Its interface is more utilitarian than 1Password’s, and some advanced team-management features are less polished, but for pure password management value, it’s hard to beat.
